Toffee Bars Recipe

If you want to be known as a chef, make a personal recipe of Toffee Bars. I have done that myself. This Toffee Bars makes a compelling Snack for most party meals. When it comes to cooking I am my worst critic. Kindly comment and let me know how is this Toffee Bars.

Ingredients

 
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
 
1 cup sugar
 
1 cup butter or margarine softened
 
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 
1 egg, separated
 
1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 275°F. Grease 15 1/2 by 10 1/2" jelly-roll pan. Into large bowl, measure all ingredients except egg white and walnuts. With mixer at low speed, beat ingredients just until blended, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Increase speed to medium; beat until well mixed. Pat dough evenly into pan.
2. In cup, beat egg white slightly; brush over top of dough and sprinkle with nuts.
3. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until golden. Immediately cut crosswise into 12 strips, then cut each strip into 4 pieces to make 48 bars in all. Remove bars from pan to cool on wire racks. Store in tightly covered container.
