Ingredients

 
Butter, softened
 
12 slices white of bread, crusts removed
 
400 g/14 oz/1 large can of cherry pie filling
 
45 ml/3 tbsp caster sugar
 
10 ml/2 tsp ground cinnamon
 
TO SERVE:
 
Creme fraiche

Directions

Butter six slices of the bread on both sides on a board.
Spread cherry pie filling over, not quite to the edge of each slice.
Butter the remaining bread on one side only and place, buttered sides up, over the cherry filling.
Press the edges gently together all round the filling to seal.
Place on a hinged wire rack, close and cook until golden brown on both sides.
Meanwhile, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
Dust both sides of the sandwiches with the cinnamon sugar and place on serving plates.
Top each with a dollop of creme fraiche and serve immediately.
