The flavor of this Toasted Cheese And Bacon Sandwich recipe has occupied my mind so much that I almost never consider any other Toasted Cheese And Bacon Sandwich recipe. I just love Side Dish recipes and this dish is my only favorite amongst them. You don't need to be an expert to make out how mouth-watering and flavorful this dish really is.
Ingredients
12 prunes
8 slices bread
Butter
8 slices bacon
4 slices gouda or processed cheese
Watercress for garnish
Preheat broiler
Directions
Cover the prunes with boiling water and let stand about 1 hour.
Remove crusts from the bread and butter one side of each slice.
Broil the bacon until crisp, set aside 2 slices and chop the rest coarsely.
Remove the seeds from the prunes, set aside 4 and chop the remainder.
Cover half the slices of buttered bread with the chopped prunes and bacon.
Top with the remaining slices.
Toast the sandwiches on one side, turn over and cover the untoasted side with a slice of cheese.
Broil until the cheese bubbles and browns.
Top each sandwich with half a slice of bacon and a prune.
Serve hot garnished with watercress.
