Ingredients

 
1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream
 
1 cup English walnut pieces
 
1/2 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips

Directions

Let the ice cream soften in the refrigerator until it can be whipped with an electric beater.
Meanwhile, place walnuts in a nonstick frying pan.
Place over medium-low heat, shaking pan occasionally to toast the walnuts.
Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
Transfer the ice cream to a large mixing bowl.
Whip the ice cream on low until smooth.
Fold in the toasted walnuts and chocolate chips.
Transfer ice cream to a covered freezer container.
Freeze for several hours before serving.
If ice cream becomes solid, allow to soften slightly in refrigerator before serving.
