Terrific Beer Stew Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 1/2 pounds boneless beef, cut into 1-inch cubes | ||
| Beef broth | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/2 cup beer, increase to 1 cup for Insta-Matic | ||
| Brown sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Caraway seeds | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Onions | 1 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
| Frozen green peas package | 1 | |
| 1/4 cup water, increase to 3/4 cup for Insta-Matic | ||
| Flour | 3 Tablespoon | |
| 1 regular size (10"x 16") oven cooking bag | ||
Directions
TO HEAT BY TIME In cooking bag, combine beef, 1 cup beef broth, 1/2 cup beer, sugar, salt, pepper, caraway seeds, onions and peas; turn bag several times to mix.
Pull bag up around beef and close (3-inch from top) with nylon tie or string; make six half-inch slits in top of bag.
Place in 2-quart casserole.
Set Power Select at HIGH for 5 to 7 minutes and LOW for 50 to 55 minutes.
Stir twice.
TO HEAT BY INSTA-MATIC In 4-quart casserole (do NOT use cooking bag), combine beef, 1 can beef broth, 1 cup beer, sugar, salt, pepper, caraway seeds, onions, peas and 1/2 cup water.
Cover.
Heat on COOK 2.
After time appears in display window, stir twice.
In measuring cup, stir in flour with 1/4 cup water Set Power Select at HIGH for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes or until slightly thickened.
