Terrific Beer Stew Recipe
No one can stop at just one is my claim for this recipe of Terrific Beer Stew. There is not a single month when I don't serve this yummy Main Dish! Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds boneless beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
4 carrots, cut into 1/2-inch slices
1 can (10 1/2 oz.) beef broth
1 cup beer
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 medium onions, cut in eighths
1 package (10 oz.) frozen green peas
1/4 cup water
3 tablespoons flour
1 regular size (10x 16-inch) oven cooking bag
Directions
TO COOK BY INSTA-MATIC: In 4-quart casserole (do NOT use cooking bag), combine beef, carrots, beef broth, beer, sugar, salt, thyme, pepper and onions.
Cover with lid.
Cook on COOK 2.
After time appears in the display window, add peas.
Stir occasionally.
TO COOK BY TIME: Prepare cooking bag according to package directions.
In cooking bag, combine beef, carrots, beef broth, beer, sugar, salt, thyme, pepper and onions.
Turn bag several times to mix.
Pull bag up around beef and close (3-inches from top) with nylon tie or cotton string.
Make six half-inch slits in top of bag.
Place in 2-quart casserole.
Cook at HIGH 7 minutes and at LOW 30 minutes.
Open bag, add peas, and reclose bag.
Cook at LOW 20 to 30 minutes.
TO COMPLETE: Blend flour with water until smooth.
Stir into stew.
Cook at HIGH 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
Cover with lid.
