1 c. dates
 
1 c. boiling water

1 c. brown sugar
 
1 beaten egg
 
1 1/2 c. flour
 
1 tsp. baking powder
 
1/4 tsp. salt
 
1 tsp. vanilla
 
1/2 c. walnuts
 
C.
 
5 tbsp. brown sugar
 
3 tbsp. butter
 
2 tbsp. cream
 
1/2 c. coconut

Directions

1. Cook A ingredients together for 10 minutes and allow to cool.
2. Mix B ingredients using standard cake method.
3. Stir A mixture into B mixture.
4. Spread into pan and bake.
5. Simmer together C ingredients for 3 minutes.
6. Pour on warm cake, broil under broiler until golden brown.
