Ingredients

 3/4 pound eggplant, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
 3/4 pound potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
 3/4 pound zucchini, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
 Okra1/2 pound, frozen
 Green pepper1 , sliced
 Onions1/2 pound, slivered
 3/4 pound ground beef or lamb
 Salt2 Teaspoon
 Black pepper3/4 Teaspoon
 Ground allspice1/2 Teaspoon
 Hot red pepper1 Pinch
 Lemon juice1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Tomatoes1 pound, peeled

Directions

In a large lightly oiled baking serving dish, layer the vegetables in this order: eggplant, potatoes, zucchini, okra, green pepper, onions.
Sprinkle the meat over the top.
Add the salt, black pepper, allspice and red pepper.
Sprinkle with the lemon juice.
Cover with the sliced tomatoes.
Bake at 400 degrees for about one hour.
Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake thirty minutes more, or until all the vegetables are tender.
If the top is dry or burning, cover the casserole with aluminum foil.
Serve hot with rice pilaf or cheese beurek.
