Recipe Story

Usually this dish is made using "taikilo", a kind of leaves which you get in India during the rainy season. Here I don't get any "taikilo". So I used chopped collard greens.

Directions

Clean collard greens, remove the thick veins and chop them finely.

Soak rice for atleast one hour. dry roast urad dal till light brown.

Prepare the masala by adding rice, urad dal, red chillies, salt and very little water to make it to a very thick paste.

Now take chopped collard leaves in a bowl and add masala little by little and mix it well.

Heat oil in a kadai. Make medium sized balls from the collard greens mixture and flatten a bit. Now coat it with rice flour and deep fry till crisp.

Serve hot.

Very good recipe Sarita. My son is a bit allergic to Besan and for that reason I have almost stopped making Bhajias. But since this one uses rice flour, I am going to try this. Thanks.
