Ingredients

 
1 1/2 cups red lentils ( masoor dal)
 
1 1/2 cups water
 
1 onion (finely chopped)
 
1 cup crushed tomatoes
 
5 tbsp olive oil
 
1 tsp tomato paste
 
1 tsp ginger/ garlic(crushed/ paste)
 
Spices:
 
2 tsp paprika
 
2 tsp fresh coriander (finely chopped)
 
1 1/2 tsp salt
 
1 tsp garam masala powder
 
1 green chilly (finely chopped)
 
3/4 tsp chilli powder
 
1/2 tsp turmeric powder

Directions

Wash the lentils in cold water and soak until required. In a pan, add oil , saute the ginger, garlic and onions until golden. Add the crushed tomatoes, the tomato paste, all the spices, mix well and add 1/2 cup of water. Drain the lentils and stir into the pan, add another 1/2 cup of water, mix well and simmer on a medium to low heat for 15-20 min.
