| Red lentils | 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs) (masoor dal) | |
| Water | 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs) | |
| Onion | 1 Medium | |
| Tomatoes | 1 Medium, crushed | |
| Olive oil | 5 Tablespoon | |
| Tomato paste | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ginger garlic paste | 1 Teaspoon, crushed | |
| Paprika | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Fresh coriander leaves | 2 Teaspoon, finely chopped | |
| Salt | 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Garam masala | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Green chili | 1 Medium, finely chopped | |
| Chili powder | 3⁄4 Teaspoon | |
| Turmeric powder | 1⁄2 Teaspoon |

Directions
1. Wash the lentils in cold water and soak until required.
MAKING
2. In a pan, add oil , saute the ginger, garlic and onions until golden brown.
3. Add the crushed tomatoes, the tomato paste, all the spices and mix well.
4. Add 1/2 cup of hot water and stir well.
5. Drain the lentils and stir into the pan.
6. Add another 1/2 cup of hot water, mix well and simmer covered on a medium to low heat for 15-20 minutes.
SERVING
7. Serve the dish with white boiled or steamed rice or rotis, garnished with cut tomatoes and chopped corriander if you like.
