Ingredients

1 tablespoon fresh wheatgerm

1 tablespoon whole oats

5 tablespoons water

1 teaspoon lemon juice

Honey to taste

Cream or milk

1 unpeeled apple

Chopped nuts if desired

Directions

Soak the wheatgerm and whole oats in the water overnight in the refrigerator. Next morning add the lemon juice in honey and cream or milk, and mix well. Shred the unpeeled apple into this and serve at once. Scatter a handful of chopped nuts on top if you like — it makes the cereal more nutritious. Serves 1. There are as many variations of the swiss health breakfast as there are fruits on the market. Fresh grapes, peaches, bananas, or any other favorite fruit can be mashed or shredded into the cereal.
A variation of the original muesli. It is a good idea to store wheatgerm in the freezer, as this is one food that quickly goes rancid. It is easy to take out enough for each day as you need it.
