Swiss Steak Recipe

Ingredients
2 pounds beef round steak, cut 1/2 inch thick
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 medium-sized onion, chopped
1 cup thinly sliced celery
1 green pepper, thinly sliced
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2/3 cup water
Directions
Cut meat into serving pieces.
Combine flour, salt and pepper in a plastic bag.
Coat meat well with mixture.
In a skillet on top of a conventional surface unit, heat vegetable oil.
Brown meat in vegetable oil on both sides.
Set aside.
In a small, heat-resistant, non-metallic mixing bowl combine onion, celery and green pepper.
Heat, covered, on full power 3 to 4 minutes.
Place browned meat in a deep, 2 1/2-quart, heat resistant, non-metallic casserole.
Spoon onion mixture over meat.
Combine soup, worcestershire sauce and water and pour over meat, spreading evenly.
Heat, covered, on simmer for;50 to 60 minutes or until tender.
