Swiss Steak Recipe

Once you try this swiss steak recipe, you will never go for another recipe again. If you have a lot of beef on hand then you know its time to make some swiss steak. If you plan to cook an out of the ordinary main dish, then you should probably go for this swiss steak. Not trying out this swiss steak after reading about it is one of the biggest crimes you could possibly imagine of committing.

Ingredients

 
2 lbs. round steak (1 inch thick)
 
2 tablespoons flour
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
1/4 teaspoon pepper
 
2 tablespoons fat
 
1/2 .cup onions, finely chopped
 
1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
 
1/2 cup green pepper, finely chopped
 
1 cup canned tomatoes

Directions

Combine flour and seasoning and pound mixture thoroughly into both sides of beef.
Cut into serving pieces.
Heat skillet and add fat.
Brown steaks well.
Mix vegetables and place over meat.
Cover.
Cook over low heat 1-1 1/2 hours until tender.
Thicken remaining sauce for gravy.
