Swiss Chard With Onions Recipe

3 lbs. young Swiss chard
 
1 bunch green onions, sliced thin or 2 medium sized ordinary onions, diced
 
2-4 tablespoons oil
 
1/2 cup bacon, diced
 
Salt to taste

Directions

Wash and slice, crosswise into 1 inch lengths young stalks of Swiss chard, using stem and leaf.
Saute thinly sliced green onions or ordinary onions in oil until golden in color.
If using bacon, add it to the onions and saute until it is lightly browned.
Add Swiss chard and saute briefly just until it is tender but has not lost its green color.
Salt to taste.
