Sweet Sour Bean Salad Recipe

2 pounds fresh green beans
 
1/2 cup cider vinegar
 
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
 
1/4 cup water
 
1/4 cup margarine
 
1/2 cup sugar
 
1 onion sliced
 
Romaine or escarole spears

Directions

Slice beans on the diagonal in 1 inch slices.
Steam in 1/2 cup water about 10 minutes, until crisp tender and bright green.
Drain.
While hot, add salt, margarine, and onion.
Cool.
Combine vinegar, water and sugar and pour over beans.
Chill.
