Sweet Green Tomato Pickles Recipe
Ingredients
8 pounds (about 32) green tomatoes
6 large onions
3 cups vinegar
3 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon mace
Directions
Chop or grind tomatoes and onions, and bring to boil in their own juices.
Turn heat low, and simmer 30 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients, and simmer, uncovered, until thick, stirring occasionally.
Ladle into hot sterilized jars, and seal.
Makes 8 pints.
