Directions

Melt shortening in large skillet, brown beef on all sides.
Add salt, tomatoes, brown sugar, vinegar, onion, and bay leaf.
Cover skillet, lower heat.
Allow to simmer about 2 hours or until beef is tender.
Last, add pepper strips to beef, cook for 10 minutes more to blend all flavors.
Serve over hot rice or with noodles.
