Sweet'And'Sour Pork Recipe
The taste of this particular Sweet'and'sour Pork recipe has occupied my senses so much that I hardly ever go for any other recipe of Sweet'and'sour Pork. Ingredients
Batter
1 large egg
3/4 cup water
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups oil for frying
Vegetables
1 large onion, cut into 8 wedges and separated into layers
1 carrot, sliced diagonally into 1/8 inch slices
2 green peppers, cut into 1inch squares
Sweet and'Sour Sauce
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons dry sherry
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch in 2 tablespoons cold water
1 cup cubed canned pineapple, well drained
Directions
Prepare the batter for pork by combining egg with water.
Beat in flour and salt until batter is smooth.
Allow to stand about 1 hour.
(Flour particles will take up some of the water.) Heat oil in the wok to 400°F.
Dip the pork into the batter a few pieces at a time and place into the deep fat.
Cook for 5 minutes, until cooked through and golden brown.
Drain on! paper towels, leave uncovered, and keep warm.
Combine onion, carrot slices, and green peppers.
Stirfry in a small amount of oil for 2 to 3 minutes.
Combine the ingredients for the sweet-and-sour sauce and stir until cornstarch is well distributed.
Add all at once to the vegetables.
Add pineapple chunks and heat until sauce boils and is thickened.
Pour over pork and serve at once while batter on pork is still crisp.
