Sweet Sour Stew Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch pieces | ||
| Cooking oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Catsup | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Packed brown sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vinegar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Worcestershire sauce | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Onion | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 6 medium carrots, cut into 3/4-inch pieces | ||
| 1 teaspoon salt Dash pepper | ||
| 1 teaspoon salt Dash pepper | ||
Directions
1 In a plastic bag combine flour, salt, and pepper; add meat pieces, a few at a time, shaking to coat. In a large skillet brown meat, half at a time, in hot oil, adding additional oil, if necessary. Drain well. Return all the meat to the skillet.
2 Combine water, catsup, brown sugar, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir into meat in skillet; stir in the onion. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 1 hour. Add carrots and simmer about
30 minutes more or until meat and carrots are tender.
