Quick Sweet Fritters Recipe
Ingredients
1 stick butter
4 eggs
1 cup water
1 egg white, stiffly beaten
1 cup flour
Oil or shortening for frying
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
Cinnamon
Syrup
Directions
Heat butter and water in a saucepan until butter melts and mixture comes to a boil.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and sugar.
Add dry ingredients all at once to the boiling butter water mixture and stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball in the center of the pan.
Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.
Then beat in eggs one egg at a time and beat after each addition until batter is smooth and glossy.
Fold in beaten egg white.
Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into hot oil (375 degrees) and fry until golden on all sides.
Drain on absorbent paper.
Pour syrup over the loukou mades and sprinkle with cinnamon, Syrup: In a saucepan combine 2 cups sugar, 1 1/2 cups water, a strip of lemon peel, and 1 stick cinnamon.
