Sweet And Sour Swiss Chard Recipe
Ingredients
1 pound Swiss chard, rinsed and patted dry
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 medium-size yellow onion, quartered and sliced
1/4 cup raisins
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons cider vinegar or white vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
Slice the Swiss chard leaves into 1 -inch strips and set aside.
Slice the stems diagonally 3/4 inch long.
In a medium-size skillet, heat the oil over moderate heat.
Add the onion and cook, covered, for 5 minutes or until softened.
Add the Swiss chard stems, raisins, garlic, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper and cook, covered, for 8 minutes.
Place the leaves on top of the mixture (do not stir in), cover, and cook for 2 minutes.
Remove from the heat and stir.
