Ingredients

| Tamarind - 1 small ball | ||
| Jaggery | 1 Tablespoon, grated | |
| Onion | 1 Medium, minced | |
| Gram dal | 1 1/2 Tablespoon, boiled | |
| Ginger - 1/2-inch piece | ||
| Garlic | 10 Gram | |
| Coconut | 1 Small | |
| Cumin seeds | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Coriander seeds | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Turmeric powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Green chillies | 2 | |
| Coriander leaves - a pinch | ||
| Asafoetida - a pinch | ||
| Garam masala | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 To taste | |
| Chilli powder - to taste | ||
Directions
MAKING
1. In a saucepan add salt and water and boil the drumsticks in it.
2. Drain out the drumsticks when done.
3. In a small bowl add tamarind with water and keep it soaked for 5 minutes. Extract the pulp.
4. In a frying pan dry roast coconut.
5. Add in grinder along with ginger, garlic, chillies, corriander and cumin seeds.
6. Grind the spices to a smooth paste.
7. In a skillet heat 3 tablespoon oil and add asafoetida and onions. Fry until colour changes.
8. Sprinkle water over it and ground coconut paste, salt and chilli powder. Fry till the oil starts separating.
9. Stir in dal, drumsticks and 1 cup water.
10. Cook the drumsticks till done.
11. Add tamarind and jaggery and cook till tender.
SERVING
12. Serve garnished with coriander leaves.
