Sweet And Sour Cabbage Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 kg/2 lb red cabbage | ||
| Onion | 1 Large | |
| 50 g/2 oz butter or margarine | ||
| 350 g/12 oz cooking apples | ||
| Red wine vinegar | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Seasoning | ||
| 150 ml/1 pint chicken or vegetable stock | ||
| 25 g/1 oz sultanas | ||
Directions
1. Cut the cabbage in quarters, remove the hard core and shred the cabbage finely.
2. Prepare and chop onion.
3. Melt the butter or margarine in a flameproof dish.
4. Add the cabbage and onion, toss in the butter or margarine and cook gently for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
5. Peel the apples and grate coarsely.
6. Add the remaining ingredients and mix-together well.
7. Cover and cook in a moderate oven (160°C, 325°F, Gas Mark 3) for about 1 hour.
