Ingredients

 
1 pound finely ground beef
 
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
 
1 egg
 
2/3 cup milk
 
1/2 small onion, grated
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
Dash each, pepper, nutmeg

Directions

Mix together lightly and form into about 3 dozen 11/2 -inch balls.
Brown well in hot fat or bacon drippings using a heavy skillet over low heat.
Add 1/4 cup hot water, bouillon or wine (more may be added as needed).
Cover tightly and simmer about 20 minutes.
