Directions

Wash 1 pound (2 1/4 cups) Swedish brown beans; drain.
Add 5 cups water.
Cover; let stand overnight. (Or bring water and beans slowly to boiling; reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes; cover and let stand 1 hour.)
Add 3 inches stick cinnamon and 1 1/2 teaspoons salt.
Cover; simmer 1 hour or till beans start to get tender.
Add 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup vinegar.
Cook uncovered, 45 minutes or till tender; stir occasionally.
Add 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup.
Makes 6 servings.
