Swedish Baked Herrings Recipe

How can anyone not agree with me that this Swedish Baked Herrings is simply delicious? Fish is one of the few ingredients I like to include in my daily cooking and this is my comfort recipe that I usually prepare using it. Seems like European food never lets you down. This recipe of Swedish Baked Herrings is one such example. There is not a single month when I don't serve this yummy Side Dish! A family favorite that is feasted upon every weekend, this Swedish Baked Herrings recipe should not be missed!

Ingredients

 
4 herrings
 
2 tsp. salt
 
2 Tbs. vinegar
 
2 Tbs. browned bread crumbs
 
2 Tbs. water .
 
1 1/2 Tbs. sugar
 
Pinch of pepper
 
Pinch of ground cloves

Directions

Fillet the herrings and rub them well with the salt.
Put in a shallow baking dish, letting the fillets overlap slightly.
Mix the vinegar, water, sugar, pepper, and cloves together and pour over the fish.
Sprinkle the crumbs on top.
Bake until the flesh flakes easily.
