Then turn mixer on high and beat until creamy.
Heat the milk until very hot and keep it hot until it is used up.
(Do not let it boil.) Add the milk to the creamed mixture slowly, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition.
Then add the salt and vanilla.
Continue beating until mixture is soft like whipped cream.
Color may be added, but only a drop at a time.
This is enough frosting for 1 large cake.
