Ingredients

 
1 pound sausages
 
2 slices bacon,cut in small pieces
 
1 small onion,chopped
 
2 tomatoes,peeled and diced 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
I /2 teaspoon dry mustard, Pinch cayenne, pepper or 2 drops hot pepper sauce
 
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans
 
1 cup soft bread crumbs 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese

Directions

Prick sausages, and partly fry over medium heat about 10 minutes; lift out, and drain on paper towels.
Add bacon to pan, and fry until transparent.
Pour off and reserve all but 1 tablespoon fat.
Add onion, tomatoes, green pepper, salt, mustard, cayenne and Worcestershire sauce.
Fry 5 minutes over low heat.
Add beans with juice, and remove from heat.
Mix bread crumbs with cheese and 2 tablespoons reserved fat.
Spread 1/2 the crumb mixture in bottom of greased 9" x 5" x 4" baking dish.
Cover with bean mixture, and spread with remaining crumbs.
Arrange partially cooked sausages on top, and bake 30 minutes at 350°F. or until brown and bubbly on top.
