Sugared Pecans Recipe

Ingredients

 
2 1/4 cups sugar
 
1 cup sour cream
 
Salt to taste
 
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
 
5 cups pecans

Directions

Brush a baking sheet with melted butter and set aside.
In a saucepan, mix together the sugar, sour cream, and salt.
Bring slowly to a boil and stir until soft ball stage is reached, 236° F on a candy thermometer.
Remove from burner and add vanilla.
With a wooden spatula, beat until the mixture loses its gloss.
It should begin to thicken at this point.
Add the pecans.
Stir to coat well.
Place on baking sheet and separate the nuts, using two forks.
