Sugared Pears Recipe

|Coconut||3 Tablespoon, shredded (45 ml)|
|Macaroons||1 Cup (16 tbs), crushed (250 ml)|
|Butter||1 Tablespoon (15 ml)|

Bring to boil over medium heat and continue cooking 3 to 4 minutes.
Add pears and cook 3 minutes over low heat.
Remove saucepan from heat and let pears stand in syrup 5 to 6 minutes.
Remove pears from saucepan and place in baking dish; set aside.
Replace saucepan of syrup on stove; cook 4 to 5 minutes over high heat.
Mix cornstarch with 3 tbsp (45 ml) cold water; stir into syrup and continue cooking 1 minute over low heat.
Pour half of syrup over pears.
Top with coconut and macaroons; dot with butter.
Broil 3 minutes in oven.
