Sugar Plums Recipe

Ingredients
| Butter/Margarine | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Confectioner's sugar | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), sifted | |
| Vanilla | 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Enriched flour | 2 Cup (32 tbs), sifted | |
| Salt | 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Oats | 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Quick Uncooked) | |
| Candied cherries | 30 |
Directions
Beat butter until creamy; add sugar gradually, beating until smooth.
Add vanilla.
Sift together flour & salt; add to butter mixture, mixing thoroughly.
Stir in rolled oats, mixing until blended.
Dough will be quite stiff.
Shape into balls around candied cherries.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheets in 325 degree oven for about 15 minutes.
Start them on a rack in about the middle of the oven, then shift them to a higher rack until they are delicately browned.
Ovens vary, therefore the baking depends much on the oven.
While still warm, roll in sifted confectioner's sugar.
Sometimes it seems necessary to roll the cookies twice in the sugar.
