Sugar Plum Ring Recipe
|Dry yeast||1 Tablespoon (1 Package)|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|

Let stand until bubbly; add scalded milk (or use dry milk & warm water), shortening (softened), eggs; beat well.
Stir in 1 cup of flour; beat well.
Add remaining flour and salt.
Make a soft dough.
Mix thoroughly; place in greased bowl, turning once to grease surface.
Cover; let rise till double (about 2 hours).
Punch down; let rest 10 minutes.
Divide dough into 4 parts.
Cut each part into 10 pieces; shape into balls.
Dip balls in melted butter, then in the % cup sugar blended with some of the almonds and cherries.
Repeat with 2 more layers.
Mix corn syrup with butter left from dipping balls; drizzle over top.
Cover, let rise in warm place till double, about 1 hour.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
Cool 5 minutes.
Invert pan; remove ring.
