Ingredients

 
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
 
2/3 cup sugar
 
1 egg
 
1 teaspoon vanilla
 
1/4 teaspoon salt
 
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
 
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

Directions

Cream together softened butter and sugar till light and fluffy.
Add egg, vanilla, and salt; beat well.
Gradually stir in flour.
Cover and chill 30 minutes for easier handling.
Shape dough into a 12-inch log; roll in chopped pecans to coat outside of log.
Wrap in waxed paper or clear plastic wrap.
Chill thoroughly.
Cut into 1/4 inch slices.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350° till lightly browned, 10 to 12 minutes.
