Sugar And Spice Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
| 2 cups Corn Flakes or 1/2 cup Corn Flake Crumbs | ||
| All purpose flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking soda | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ginger | 3 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cloves | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 1/2 cup soft shortening | ||
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Molasses | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 2 tablespoons anise seeds | ||
| Coriander seeds | 2 Tablespoon, crushed | |
| 1/2 cup strong hot coffee | ||
Directions
1. If using Corn Flakes, crush into fine crumbs. Set aside.
2. Sift together flour, soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Set aside.
3. Beat shortening and sugar until light and fluffy; add egg and beat well. Stir in molasses. Add sifted dry ingredients, Corn Flake Crumbs, anise seeds and coriander seeds alternately with coffee. Drop by level tablespoonfuls on greased baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
4. Bake in moderate oven (350°F.) about 10 minutes. When cool, frost with confectioners sugar icing.
