Stuffed Spiced Prunes Recipe
These stuffed spiced prunes are a delightful cooked preparation of prunes that can be served as dessert. Prepared in a mix of syrup with spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, the spiced prunes are filled with chopped nutmeats and rolled in sugar.
Ingredients
| Prunes | 1/2 pound | |
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Corn syrup | 1/8 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water | 1/8 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cloves- 3 to 6 | ||
| Nutmeg | 1/8 Teaspoon, grated | |
| Cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Allspice berries | 5 | |
| Maple flavoring- 1/8 teaspoon | ||
| Nut meats- as required, chopped | ||
Directions
MAKING
1.Soak the prunes overnight, after washing them thoroughly.
2.Drain off the water; add the sugar, syrup, water, spices and flavoring and simmer slowly until the syrup is all absorbed by the prunes.
3.Cut a slit along one side of each prune, slip out the stone and fill the cavities with chopped nut meats moistened with a little syrup or with cream.
4.Roll in confectioners' sugar.

5.Serve with ice cream
