Strawberries With Cinnamon Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
2/3 cup water
1 tsp ground cinnamon
6 in. cinnamon stick, broken in pieces
1 tsp cold water
1 tsp cornstarch
3 env. aspartame sweetener
2 cup frozen, unsweetened strawberries
2 tsp prepared nondairy whipped topping
Directions
Combine the 2/3 cup (180 mL) of water and the ground cinnamon and broken cinnamon pieces in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until liquid is about 1/2 cup (125 mL).
Remove cinnamon pieces.
Dissolve the cornstarch in the 1 tsp (15 mL) of cold water.
Pour into cinnamon water.
Cook and stir until mixture becomes the consistency of a thin syrup.
Remove from heat.
Allow to cool until pan is cool enough to comfortably put on your hand.
Stir in the aspartame sweetener.
Place frozen strawberries in a narrow bowl.
Pour warm cinnamon mixture over the strawberries.
Cover and refrigerate until strawberries are thawed and liquid is chilled.
