Ingredients

 Thin yellow zest of 1 grapefruit cut in thin slivers
 Thin yellow zest of 1 orange cut in thin slivers
 Ripe hulled strawberries 2 quarts
 Rum 1 wineglass
 Custard
 Eggs3 Small, beaten
 Sugar3 Tablespoon
 Light cream1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Cream mixture
 Vanilla Ice Cream2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Macaroons, crumbled 1/2 cup

Directions

1. Boil the fruit rinds until tender. Drain and cool.
2. Clean strawberries.
3. Add rinds and pour rum over. Steep for 3 hours.
4. Make a custard with eggs, sugar and cream in the top of a double boiler. Cool.
5. Chill a large serving bowl.
6. Combine in the bowl the fruit mixture, custard and ice cream.
7. Sprinkle with the macaroons.
8. Serve into dessert bowls at the table.
