Ingredients
| Thin yellow zest of 1 grapefruit cut in thin slivers | ||
| Thin yellow zest of 1 orange cut in thin slivers | ||
| Ripe hulled strawberries 2 quarts | ||
| Rum 1 wineglass | ||
| Custard | ||
| Eggs | 3 Small, beaten | |
| Sugar | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Light cream | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cream mixture | ||
| Vanilla Ice Cream | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Macaroons, crumbled 1/2 cup | ||
Directions
1. Boil the fruit rinds until tender. Drain and cool.
2. Clean strawberries.
3. Add rinds and pour rum over. Steep for 3 hours.
4. Make a custard with eggs, sugar and cream in the top of a double boiler. Cool.
5. Chill a large serving bowl.
6. Combine in the bowl the fruit mixture, custard and ice cream.
7. Sprinkle with the macaroons.
8. Serve into dessert bowls at the table.
