Stew With Dumplings Recipe
Stew with dumplings is a cooked preparation of beef with biscuit mix dumplings. The beef stew is prepared with vegetables and and spiced with worcestershire sauce, garlic, pepper and red wine along with bay leaf. Served hot with rice or bread, this beef stew with dumplings makes a sumptious meal.
Ingredients
1 lb. stew beef
2 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. margarine
2 c. water
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. sliced onions
14 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 sm. bay leaf, crushed
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
3 sm. carrots, sliced thick
1 Ige. potato, quartered
1 c. tomatoes
1 c. green beans, cut
1 c. lima beans, cooked
1/4c. red wine (opt.)
1/2 c. biscuit mix
3 tbsp. milk
Directions
Dredge beef in flour; brown well in margarine in heavy fry pan or electric skillet.
Add remaining ingredients except vegetables, wine, biscuit mix and milk.
Cover; cook 1 hour and 30 minutes or bake at 350 degrees until tender.
Add all vegetables to meat and gravy mixture; simmer 25 minutes.
Add wine.
More gravy may be added also.
Mix together biscuit mix and milk; form into four balls.
Drop dough balls on top of stew; simmer 10 minutes uncovered and 5 minutes covered.
Add remaining ingredients except vegetables, wine, biscuit mix and milk.
