Directions

Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in a steamer.
Place carrots, yellow summer squash, and broccoli in a steamer basket or colander and steam, covered, for 8 minutes, or until just tender.
Remove from steamer and set aside.
Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in steamer.
Place green beans and potatoes in a steamer basket or colander, cover, and steam for 10 minutes or until just tender.
While beans and potatoes are steaming, place garlic, lemon juice, and pepper in a saucepan and simmer for 8 minutes.
Combine beans and potatoes with other vegetables and toss with garlic-lemon sauce.
Note: To save time, you can use your microwave to steam some of the vegetables while you are steaming the rest on your stovetop.

I also love a veggie steamer, especially the bamboo ones. I usually add some chiles or white pepper or long peppers crushed. The bamboo gives a nice fragrance to veggies. Yesterday we made steamed bok choy, sugar snap peas and brocolli w/garlic, lemon zest and long pepper-so yummy!
