Steamed Pears With Honey And Currants Recipe

Core pear, cutting to, but not through the bottom.
Combine boiling water and currants in a small bowl.
Let stand 15 minutes.
Combine honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a small saucepan; stir well.
Cook over medium heat until thoroughly heated.
Remove from heat; stir in currants and lemon juice.
Spoon honey mixture evenly into each pear; top with pear caps.
Place a glass bowl in center of a steaming rack in a large Dutch oven; add just enough water to fill pan below rack.
Place pears upright in bowl.
Bring water to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 to 25 minutes or until pears are tender.
Remove from heat, and let stand 15 minutes.
Remove bowl from pan, and let pears cool in liquid.
Cover and chill thoroughly.
Spoon 2 tablespoons chilled liquid onto each of 4 individual dessert plates; place pears on liquid.
Drizzle 1 tablespoon chilled liquid over each pear
