Steak Sandwiches With Johnny Appleseed Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 medium onion, sliced thin | ||
| Salad oil | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Applesauce | 1 Cup (16 tbs), canned | |
| Catsup | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Worcestershire sauce | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Lemon juice | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Oregano | 1/2 Teaspoon, crushed | |
| Steaks | 6 Cubic Centimeter | |
| 6 hamburger buns, split, toasted, and buttered | ||
Directions
In large skillet, cook onion in hot oil till tender but not brown; add applesauce, catsup, and seasonings.
Heat, stirring occasionally, till bubbling.
Remove from heat; add steaks, turning to coat, and let stand 15 minutes.
Lift out steaks and broil quickly over hot coals, about 1 or 2 minutes per side, brushing with barbecue sauce after turning.
Slip steaks into hot buns, ladling extra sauce on meat.
