Steak Sandwiches Italian Style Recipe
Ingredients
4 half-inch-thick slices French or Italian bread Butter
1 1/2 pounds beef tenderloin, cut in 4 slices 3/4 inch thick
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup port wine
2 tablespoons whipping cream
Directions
Brown bread in butter on both sides in a heavy skillet.
At the same time, in another skillet, brown meat for about 3 minutes on each side.
Season with salt and pepper, and keep warm by placing on top of the bread.
Stir port into pan in which meat was browned, and cook until wine is reduced one-half.
Stir in cream and simmer 1 or 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Pour sauce over sandwiches on plate.
