Ingredients
2 1/2 pounds beef round steak
1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Freshly ground pepper to taste
6 slices bacon, chopped
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 cup beef bouillon
2 cups canned apple sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon curry powder
Directions
Trim fat from steak and cut into serving-size pieces.
Mix flour with salt and pepper and coat steak with mixture.
Fry bacon, onion and garlic in skillet until bacon is crisp.
Remove from skillet and brown steak in pan drippings.
Transfer as browned to a buttered 2-quart casserole.
Mix bacon and onion with remaining ingredients and pour over steak in casserole.
Cover and bake in a 350° F.oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until steak is tender.
