1 sirloin steak about 4 to 4 1/2 pounds
1 teaspoon butter
4 onions, sliced
1 clove garlic
Seasoning for onions
1 tablespoon butter
Directions
Crush the garlic in the teaspoon of butter.
Rub this over the steak, which should be 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick.
Do not salt the steak, as this draws out the juice.
Put it under a hot broiler or over a charcoal broiler.
Cook for 7 to 8 minutes a side.
While the steak is cooking, melt the tablespoon of butter in a saucepan, add the sliced onions and seasoning.
Stir around to absorb the butter and cook gently with the lid on the pan until soft.
Serve around the broiled steak as a garnish and rub a pat of butter over the steak to make it shiny.
