Ingredients

 Garlic1 Clove (5gm)
 Head of lettuce1 Large
 Radishes3/4 Cup (16 tbs), sliced
 Carrots3/4 Cup (16 tbs), pared
 Scallions3 , sliced
 1 hard-cooked egg, shelled and sliced
 Granulated Sugar1/4 Teaspoon
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 Speck pepper
 Celery seed1/4 Teaspoon
 5 tablesp. salad oil
 3 tablesp. lemon juice

Directions

Rub a large salad bowl with the clove of garlic, cut in half.
Break the lettuce into 12 pieces, then place it in the bowl with the radishes, carrots, scallions, and egg.
Just before serving, combine and add remaining ingredients.
Serve at the table, tossing the salad well.
