Easy Spoon Bread Recipe
Spoon Bread is a delicious side dish recipe which I always love to have on my dinner table. I bet, once you have this Spoon Bread, you will always crave for some more.
Ingredients
3 cups milk
3/4 cup cornmeal (yellow or white)
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, separated
1 teaspoon baking powder
Directions
1. Scald two cups of the milk in a double boiler. Mix the remaining milk with the cornmeal, add to the scalded milk and cook, stirring frequently, thirty minutes. Cool slightly.
2. Preheat oven to moderate (375° F.).
3. Add the butter, salt and beaten egg yolks to the cornmeal mixture and mix well. Add the baking powder and mix. Fold in the egg whites, stiffly beaten.
4. Turn the mixture into a greased casserole and bake about thirty minutes.
