Split Pea And Ham Soup Recipe
Split pea and ham soup is a light and refreshing soup made with split peas and ham with bones. Prepared with added veggies and milk or cream, the split pea and ham soup is simmered to cook and can be served with breadsticks.
Ingredients
1 lb. split peas
4 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
Cooked ham bone with few cubes of meat
2 med. carrots, diced
1 small onion, diced
1 med. potato, diced
1/2 c. evaporated milk or cream
Directions
Simmer peas in water and salt for 30 minutes; add ham bone and ham.
Add carrots, onion and potato to partially cooked split peas; simmer until vegetables are tender.
Add milk to dilute soup at serving time.
If too thick, add additional milk or water until desired consistency is reached.
