Split Pea Soup Recipe
Ingredients
| 4 cups chicken broth, defatted | ||
| 1 cup dried split peas, sorted and rinsed | ||
| Carrots | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Onions | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Celery | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 2 ounces turkey ham, finely chopped | ||
| Dried marjoram | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Liquid smoke | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| Bay Leaf | 1 | |
Directions
In a large saucepan, combine the broth and peas.
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat.
Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Add the carrots, onions, celery, turkey ham, marjoram, liquid smoke and bay leaf.
Return to a boil, then reduce the heat.
Cover and simmer for 30 minutes to blend the flavors.
Remove and discard the bay leaf before serving.
