Split Pea & Rice Soup Recipe
Ingredients
| Water | 6 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vegetable oil | 3 Tablespoon | |
| 1 medium-sized onion, chopped | ||
| 1 teaspoon salt or vegetable salt | ||
| Split peas | 1 Cup (16 tbs), dried | |
| Brown rice | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), uncooked | |
| 2 medium-sized carrots, chopped | ||
| Stalk celery | 1 , chopped | |
| 1 medium-sized potato, cubed | ||
| Tamari soy sauce | 2 Tablespoon | |
Directions
Bring water to a full boil in a 4-quart pot. Add all ingredients except tamari or soy sauce. Bring to a second boil.
Reduce heat and simmer covered for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add more water if soup seems too thick.
At end of cooking time, stir in tamari or soy sauce. Cover and set aside for at least one hour to thicken. Reheat before serving.
