Spicy Iced Tea Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
6 whole cloves
4 whole allspice
4 pieces (2 in. each) stick cinnamon
3 tablespoons tea or 3 to 5 tea bags
Directions
Combine all ingredients except tea in a saucepan.
Stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
Cover tightly and simmer 20 minutes.
Strain, cool, and chill thoroughly.
Bring 2 cups freshly drawn cold water to a full rolling boil in a saucepan.
Remove from heat and immediately add the tea; stir.
Let tea steep 5 minutes.
Stir and strain into a pitcher containing 2 cups cold water.
(Remove tea bags, if used, and omit straining.) Blend in the spiced syrup.
Pour into ice-filled glasses.
Serve with thin slices of lime or lemon.
